End of First Books
And so we have reached the last chapters of our textbooks. Tomorrow we have a vocabulary test on Lesson 25 and today we started the last chapter of our kanji book. Never fear, though: There are more volumes of each, there are many more kanji to learn.
政 (administration), 治 (govern), 経 (control, pass through), 済 (finish, save), 歴 (career), 史 (history), 育 (breed, raise), 化 (change, -isation), 理 (reason, ration, logic), 科 (branch, division), 数 (number, some, several), 医 (medical, doctor). Kanji count: 251.
In combination these make some more useful words:
- 政治 (seiji) - politics
- 経済 (keizai) - economics, as in Daiichi University of Economics (daiichi keisai daigaku)
- 歴史 (rekishi) - history
- 数学 (suugaku) - mathematics (my favourite)

So you will be flying this Saturday. On the next Saturday ---well, early in the AM on the Sunday, I'm flying out of here via Zurich back to DC. Course there from the 6th for three weeks ... followed by a four-day seminar focused on us old codgers looking closely at retirement.
A chance to see some family and some friends over the course of the month though.
First time out of the UAE in six months. A chance to catch up on some movies enroute in any case.
Saw "Broken Flowers" last night. Left you thinking for an American film. Have to see the "Secret Life of a Geisha" coming around soon (or perhaps on the plane!).
All the best with your flight.
S 'n D.
PS: Check on the "Bunker" page ... putting up some "Burj" photos from yesterday.
