Tickets Please

The tickets are finally here, and not a moment too soon. Seems like yesterday was the moment for slight panic, with at least two of us emailing to find out when they were coming. I now have some pieces of paper entitling me to a return flight to Fukuoka, via Osaka, with a value of about £1700. This was all fully paid for by Daiichi. I'm really hoping that they are upper class tickets, as I would like to come at Christmas for a little cheaper - by at least a grand hopefully!

New Toys

So in the end I decided to get the Axim X30, basically because it was the cheapest. Having wireless would have been nice, but in the end it's just an extra luxury that I wouldn't have used. Thanks, though, Steve for commenting about the reviews.

I've also started a Flickr account for posting my photos. So far it just has the ones I've already posted here. In the future, I'll post pictures there and just put one or two here with a link. The address is http://www.flickr.com/photos/yearinjapan/ for those of you with a twitchy bookmark finger.

There are only 12 days until I leave, and I'm more in denial about this trip everyday. Also, my plane tickets haven't arrived, and I haven't even been sent an email to say they're in the post. It's things like this that get me stressed, and I don't like being stressed. I just want everything to go smoothly.

Pictures and PDAs

I've finally gotten around to putting pictures into some posts (namely Completed Forms and Certificate of Eligibility). I'll try not to overload this with too many. Perhaps I should start up an image gallery when necessary. Anybody know of any good sites?

Whilst I'm asking people's opnions, I'm thinking of getting a new PDA. I just need a calendar with an alarm, and maybe some contacts information, though ideally I'd like Japanese character support for obvious reasons. However, I don't think that this latter feature exists on any PDA at the moment. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm thinking about getting a Dell Axim X30 or possibly an X50. Comments are more than welcome.

Four Weeks and Counting...

So here I am, with about four weeks to go until I jet off to the Land of the Rising Sun. My mother bought me a present today: a new duvet! I think she's planning on getting a lodger whilst I'm away. I think I'll need to remind her that I'm coming back for Christmas. No doubt I'll be sleeping on the floor...

Anyway, I graduated on the 16th July with a first class BA in Mathematics and Computer Science, so I was pretty chuffed. My parents bought me a digital camera for doing so, which was nice of them so hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures at some point.

I've also been getting "hit" by the impendingness (new word?) of the trip, and the reality of it all. I've suddendly started worrying that I'm not going to be able to get sorted in time. Well, to be honest I probably wouldn't if it was just left to me, but I have a wonderful mother and girlfriend who'll help me through.

I've also started writing list of "Things to do". However, these are all boring, and I feel rather unmotivated to "sort out insurance". It just costs more money.

I'd also like to say hi to Steve F. (also Robert, Christie, Lizzie, and Diane), who seems to have made it his mission to make sure I get at least one comment for every post. I appreciate it Steve, thanks for making it all worthwhile. I'm sorry about your posting away from the family. Hopefully the US will pull out of Abu Dhabi and you'll get to go home. On a side note... do you still have the beard?
